Little by little the eCash ecosystem is getting more traction and acknowledgment from third parties and developers who are interested in producing software for the chain. This time it’s eTokens who is getting an upgrade with the creation of a tool that automates dividend distribution.
The npm package, called etoken-list, has been created by Bitcoin ABC developer Joey King, also known by his pseudonym Bytes of Man. With these new tools developers can list all token holder addresses and balances at any specified blockchain heights. As the documentation specifies, the information that becomes accessible using these tools can be beneficial for a great number of interesting use cases.
eCash denominated dividend payments to holders of a specific token will now be easy to set up. Also airdropping token holders with new tokens or building a token staking rewards system using coin age and other interesting applications will now be within reach for those interested in building projects on eCash
This functionality is not limited to listing balances and addresses of regular eTokens holders but also offers listing of all NFT (non fungible token) holders or creation of a list of all NFT’s that were ever part of an NFT token group. With this library including code examples at their fingertips, it will save project developers a lot of time and effort when choosing eCash to build their projects on.
eCash Supports Developers
Several events that have happened this past week highlight eCash developers are increasingly interested in supporting third-party developers who are building on the eCash network. Tobias Ruck, developer of the be.cash explorer and the RaiPay ecosystem, stated he had direct contact with Amaury Séchet, who proposed Ruck to include code in the eCash full node codebase, which would help with their use case.
This kind of direct interaction is hard to see in other larger projects, and many times third-party developers don’t feel the support that the protocol development community offers in eCash. Alexander Ugorji, another developer of the RaiPay ecosystem also declared that:
“The community is much better and more accessible. We’re in communication with the ABC team, they know what we’re working on and they are happy to support us when appropriate and give us a heads up about any changes.”
This cooperative attitude of the ABC development team, the creation of useful tools like the ones covered today and being welcoming to individuals and projects contributing code to the eCash full node software, can entice new participants to enter the eCash ecosystem in the coming months and years.
